Today one of my office colleague asked what are all the ways he can access CRM after the software has been installed on his machine.

I was amazed by his question as he is working as a tech support guy for CRM. I intended to dedicate this below post on various ways of accessing MSCRM 4.0 for him

The Term “CLIENTS” in MSCRM 4.0 refers to the different ways the end user can access his CRM data in Microsoft CRM.  There are four ways to achieve this (ie) in other ways there are 4 type of clients for MSCRM 4.0. They are

1)      MSCRM Web Client

2)      MSCRM Outlook Client

3)      MSCRM Outlook Client  with Offline Access

4)      MSCRM Mobile Client

Let us see each of the in brief

1)      MSCRM Web Client

This is the mostly commonly used client of MSCRM 4.0 .Here the CRM User Interface is rendered using the local web server if the CRM is hosted locally or when the CRM is hosted in a separate web server the CRM UI is rendered in any browser with specific  web address.

2)      MSCRM Outlook Client

Here the MSCRM UI is rendered in conjunction with the outlook client. Since most of the customer representative would be familiar with working in outlook client this type of client also used regularly.

3)       MSCRM Outlook Client with Offline access

This type of client is same as the outlook client but differs that it doesn’t needs the CRM server be online. This type of client is useful to CRM users who are frequently in travel and needs to carry a copy of their client details with them. Once all data being entered it is synchronized with the CRM server.

Here in the above picture you can able to see in the righthand corner the online text glowing. Since i am using the fat client i am unable to get a scetch of offline clinet. so i deceided to show this and when the online bulb in the righthand coener is not glowing it is in offline mode and we need to sync it with the server whenever we connect to our server.

5)           MSCRM Mobile Client

Here the MSCRM UI is rendered in any Windows Compactable  Mobile .

Folks hope this post might have thrown a little light on various clients of MSCRM 4.0.
